DAY TWO:
"Positively Primary"
https://sites.google.com/a/garlandisd.net/ptic-2011/home
-Garland ISD has a Title I Tech Coaching program; all free, easy, and web-based applications; some schools only have two (2) computers in each classroom; do not override curriculum;
-Online training and resources: http://geo.garlandisd.net/ and http://gmoodle.garlandisd.net/
Resources:
-Neo K-12: "Educational videos, lessons, and games for K-12 school kids." (http://www.neok12.com/)
-Lino It: "a free sticky & canvas service that requires nothing but a Web browser" (http://en.linoit.com/)
-Glogster: "21st Century multimedia tool for educators, teachers, and students." Use text, images, music, and video (http://edu.glogster.com/);
*Brie Smith's (workshop trainer) Glogster-http://brietechie.edu.glogster.com/primarytic
-Jalapenyo: "Create and share personalized video e-cards featuring YOUR videos" (http://jalapenyo.com/),
-Talking Pets: "The site that's got all the pets talking!" (http://www.talkingpets.org/) -- use talking animals for teacher morning messages or have students make their own
-Voki: Similar to Talking Pets and Blabberize; "a free service that allows you to create personalized speaking avatars and use them on your blog, profile, and in email messages" (http://www.voki.com/)
-ReadWriteThink: "Lessons, interactives, calendar activities, and more, right at your fingertips." (http://www.readwritethink.org/)
-Helpful tips from their site:
Creating a successful coaching environment that fosters technology integration in the primary setting is not impossible. You don't have to have the latest and greatest gadgets or even the most techie people (promise).
You really just need a few things...
1. You must have the vision. You have to believe it will work, or it won't.
2. You have to provide quality instruction (aka training).
3. Provide ongoing support and encouragement.
4. Most importantly, you have to have accountability. Assign tasks to be accomplished regularly. Example: https://sites.google.com/a/garlandisd.net/ptic-2011/accountability
Establish lines and boundaries. What is my job? Who do you contact for what?

"No More Tech Lessons! Instead, True Technology Immersion!"
http://producerstoolbox.weebly.com/ (pattern own Oppe web page after this)
-Use Web 2.0 applications for student creations instead of focusing on teaching computer skills
-See ProducersToolbox for links to all web tools. Also, see her blog for presentations http://producerstoolbox.weebly.com/20-blog.html
Notable ones include:
-Use Weebly to make your own website - easy, Web 2.0, and free! http://education.weebly.com/
-Zoo Burst: create interactive books
-EduTecher: includes video demos of Web 2.0 applications for teaching
-Vocaroo: record voice and get embed code easily
-JamStudio.com: make music online easily and download (get free teacher account)
-GoAnimate.com (similar to ToonDoo, Kerpoof, etc.)
-Fodey.com: make newspaper clipping and save as JPEG
-MyFakeWall (similar to Fakebook): http://www.myfakewall.com/
-Amap: http://www.amap.org/ (word cloud for arguments)
-Boolify: "An educational Boolean web search tool" http://www.boolify.org/
-GleanComparisonSearch: http://www.gleancomparisonsearch.org/
TIPS:
Set non-negotiables: e.g., discuss internet safety AND copyright first
Show students a web app, say a few words about it, then let them explore & learn;
Give bare minimum of directions, let them collaborate, think-pair-share
Set blanket rules for each site/app: e.g., Don't go to the Wordle Public Gallery
Be firm about violations and rule-breakers.
Let students see the computer as a tool. For example, when they come upon a word that they don't know and someone gets up to look it up online, let it happen!
Have a regular "Tech Day" to introduce one web tool.
Great video: "Web 2.0 in the Classroom" www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue1FeMBfKec
Great image - Web 2.0 Applications Mosaic: "Map of the World 2.0" http://media.appappeal.com/map/web-2.0-logo-mosaic.jpg from http://www.appappeal.com/web-2-0-application-world-mosaic/ (1001 Clickable Web 2.0 Logos)
Use Cloud Browser (iPad broswer that can project VGA out)
Install EduTecher on Android and iPads
